Lucia Perez - Preschool Teacher & ECE Faculty Chair
Lucia is happy to embark on her fourth year in the Saltwater Waldorf School, leading the Preschool Program.
Soon after moving to Canada, Lucia graduated from North Island College, receiving her ECE certification. She is passionate about early childhood education, and believes in fostering the sense of wonder, an early connection with nature, and nurturing each child’s individual essence. Lucia will complete her Early Childhood Waldorf teacher training this winter at the West Coast Institute for Anthroposophical Studies.
Lucia attended a bilingual school in Uruguay, her home country, from the age of two and a half. This ignited a love for learning and a passion for different cultures. Her love of English led her to take a Teacher Training course. Lucia’s experience includes work as an English teacher assistant for the elementary school grades.
Lucia has always learned best from hands on, creative activities which merge vision with new knowledge. As a child, most of her free time was spent at the beach or on her family’s farm. These experiences gave her a deep appreciation for time spent in nature, and her favorite memories are linked to ponds, woods and sand.
Since moving to the Comox Valley 7 years ago to join her husband Adam, Lucia has reconnected with her creativity. She enjoys photography, circus arts, gardening and felting. She feel the most free when cycling, especially in a place as beautiful as Courtenay.
