Christina (Tina) Willard-Stepan - Practical Arts Teacher
Christina (Tina) began her teaching career in Alberta where she graduated as a teacher with an Elementary Language Arts specialty. She added a Waldorf perspective to her teaching practice when her first child was born and they became a part of their local Waldorf school in the parent and tot program. She is a passionate supporter of methods in education that promote mentoring and facilitating a student’s inner self – educating the whole person is very important to her. She is a Certified Personal Coach with a specialty in family coaching and works in private practice as well as offering parenting classes locally.
A curious generalist, creative, and adventurer at heart, Tina and her family came to live in the Comox Valley 12 years ago after a period of time traveling with their young children while rock climbing and living in the outdoors. She is an artist and outdoor enthusiast. She is a community leader, having created and lead programs in both community service and outdoor recreation, as well as having started and run her own small business. She has been involved previously in building community gardens and has taught cooking classes to both youth and adults.
Now with 2 nearly-grown children, she is very excited to be revisiting her teaching practice in an environment that is in alignment with her own vision of how children best learn, as well as tapping in to her diverse skills and interests in art, community service, cooking, gardening, and outdoor education – all things that she knows and loves.
