Marie-Francoise Shideler- French Teacher
Marie-Francoise Delaneuville-Shideler is looking forward to joining the Saltwater teaching team as a French Teacher. She hopes to share with her students (and their parents) her passion for languages and arts.
Madame has had experience teaching Basic French, French Immersion and Francais programs from K to 12, both in the public and private school systems in the Provinces of Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. She has also taught Adult French Conversation classes for Professionals (teachers, military, Alliance Francaise). She was born and educated in France where she earned a Baccalaureat de Philosophie at the Ecole Diocesaine d'Institutrices (Normal School). She then moved to the Republic of Ireland where she taught French for one year before moving to Canada. Since then, she has had four children and ten grand-children! Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hon) and a Bachelor of Education (with a Permanent Teaching Certification) from the University of Manitoba where she taught in the Continuing Education Department and in the French Department as a graduate student after teaching French Immersion grade 2 in the Norwood School division. She then earned (with Distinction) a Masters in French at Carleton University where she later completed her Doctoral Studies in Comparative Literature. After teaching French and Rhetoric at Carleton University, she was hired to teach French at Kwantlen University and eventually landed at the University of Calgary where she taught for five years. She has published several scholarly articles and has been invited to speak at many Canadian and American Learned Conferences. However, now retired and much older, she has decided that the FUN in teaching is really at its best when you teach little children, because they keep your mind young, healthy and creative forever! |
